Personal Trainer
Focus goals:
run technique | sports conditioning | endurance | strength | mobility | balance | agility
James is an avid distance runner, regularly completing distances from 5K-10K to marathons and ultra-marathons, and he is rarely not training for his next distance event or PB. Running is an all-absorbing passion for James; not only does he value the physical benefits and challenge of running, but also, more importantly, the mental and wellbeing benefits that running offers. James loves to share his passion and knowledge for running with his clients to help them achieve their running goals.
Whilst James’ personal passion is running, he translates this expertise to developing performance-enhancing programmes for his clients, whatever their fitness goals and preferred sport. James knows that runners want to run and cyclists want to cycle. However, it is important to maintain a full body balance, not just to reduce the risk of injury, but also to improve performance and recovery. Instead of concentrating simply on a specific activity, instead James recommends developing the fundamentals of exercise: strength, power, balance, agility, and mobility. James believes it is vital to introduce exercises that focus on these skills. For runners and cyclists, weekly sessions that focus on strength, balance and mobility will help to improve performance and recovery. Strength and mobility enable you to tap into your energy potential! This isn’t limited to running and cycling; the same fundamentals apply to all sports and activities.
James believes in taking a holistic approach to training and exercise in order to balance your health and fitness goals with your lifestyle. He tailors his exercises to the specific needs of a client, whether they are looking to run a marathon or simply wanting more energy to handle day-to-day life, ensuring that sessions are varied, interesting, fun, and client specific. Things learnt and practised in sessions go on to not just benefit a specific sport or hobby, but also improve day-to-day activities.
Focusing on the fine details of sports-specific movement patterns develops form, which is stronger, more efficient and economical, reducing the risk of injury and enabling clients to participate in their chosen sport more often and into later life.
James’ passion for helping and empowering clients to improve their movement patterns and functional strength through exercise complements his role as Lead Trainer on the Get Fit To… scheme perfectly.
